Türkiye İş Bankası Kültür Yayınları ( Turkey İşbank Culture Publications)is one of the most important publishing houses of Turkey and was founded by Hasan Ali Yücel in 1956. As he was a Minister of Education, he initiated the work of translating world classics into Turkish and helping them to be read widely with support of Turkey İşbank. First book of our publishing house was Zabit ve Kumandan ile Hasbihal ( A Conversation with an Officer and a Commander) written by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. Then came other books that created a comprehensive library of works about? Atatürk. With the works published that scrutinize our history, society structure, etnographical and geographical features, the publishing house became indispensable firstly for researchers and then for all enlightened people, gradually .

Though it slowed its pace sometimes, the publishing house saved its precious place for book lovers.

It made a great contributions into cultural life with some competitions that the İşbank initiated.

Coming to 2000s, with its contributions into fields of literature and thought either by literary compositions or translated works, the foundation succeed in becoming one of the most leading publishing houses of the country.

At the end of 2005, as the 50 th anniversary of foundation was drawing near, the foundation made a new quantum leap and today it has started to work on fields of Hasan Ali Yücel Klasikleri Dizisi (Classical Series of Hasan Ali Yücel ) and Children-Youth publishings. Besides these, it continues to srenghten its heritage of historical and memoir books that received from past and with series such as Nehir Söyleşiler(River interviews) and 99Sayfada (In 99 pages), it both testifies our cultural and social lives, and searches for answers to? daily issues.

Turkish Literature: The publishing house publishes all of the works of some writers such as Attila İlhan, Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu, Melih Cevdet Anday. Except these writers, works of new names are also published.

World Literature: The publishing house gives an importance to translate some leading writers such as Friedrich Dürrenmatt, A.L.Kennedy, Jose Saramajo. It is important to translate books from its original language and to study with experienced translators on them.

The Series of Hasan Ali Yücel: This is a work which we inspired from one of Hasan Ali Yücel ‘s works who founded the publishing house and is also one of the most important names of history of Republic. In this work both eastern and western classics are translated into Turkish.

River Interviews : It’s an oral work that carried out with important names of cultural lives.Important names from all overthe world will also pariticipate in this serial in 2007.

In 99 Pages: Interviews with indisputable names on his/her field on important subjects and issues are published.

Rememberance Books: Diaries, memories or biographies of forgotten or well-known names are published to lighten the very recent past.

History Books: These are books which are especially about Turkey’s recent periods and Ottoman Empire periphery.

Investigation-research department: Literary composed or translated works are published on subjects such as work life, diplomacy, social researchs etc.

Life Culture: Predominantly visual and collectional (compositional) translated or composed books concerning food, art and private fields are published.

Childhood-Youth: Translated books are published for preschool, school time ,childhood-youth periods , meanwhile common projects are held on with the publisher from abroad.In addition to this, important classics are also translated.
